The Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) reported that as of August 22nd, 2008 the number of reported breaches in 2008, with 4 months still left in the year, had surpassed those reported in 2007. Current data now contained within the ITRC report, dated November 14th, 2008, reveals that with still a month to go in 2008, 552 breaches were reported and 5,909,162 records have been exposed.
