McAfee Acquires Trust Digital
Advancing Mobile Security and Management
On June 3, 2010, McAfee completed the acquisition
of Trust Digital, a leading provider of enterprise mobility
management (EMM®) and security software for Forbes Global 2000
companies. Trust Digital delivers solutions that help enterprises
quickly secure, deploy, and manage smartphones, protecting
increasingly mobile workforces. The acquisition enables McAfee to
bring industry-leading data protection, network access control, and
security reporting and management to smartphones, and deliver the
industry's first comprehensive mobile security solution.
Bringing together best-in-class technologies, the acquisition
establishes McAfee as a leader in mobile enterprise security and
management, and extends McAfee's reach beyond the traditional
endpoint into the rapidly growing smartphone and tablet market,
including iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. Adding Trust
Digital's robust EMM solutions to McAfee's comprehensive security
offerings will:
- Extend McAfee data protection, firewall, and network access
control to smartphones
- Deliver centralized security management and reporting for
mobile devices, through the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO)
platform
- Enable McAfee security and management on a wide range of
smartphone and mobile tablet platforms, including iPhone OS,
Android, Web OS, Windows Mobile and Symbian
- Provide security and device management to both consumers and
SMBs through global partnerships
- Empower enterprises to deploy, secure, and manage smartphone
environments, while keeping mobile workforces productive
Streamlined security and management for mobile devices
The integration of Trust Digital's policy and device management
into the McAfee ePO platform will allow seamless enterprise
mobility management and complete anti-malware protection-regardless
of mobile device manufacturer.
"The acquisition of Trust Digital's industry-leading enterprise
mobility management solutions will extend the current McAfee
security portfolio beyond the traditional endpoint, addressing the
rapidly expanding mobile security market," said McAfee President
and CEO Dave DeWalt. "Trust Digital's industry-leading enterprise
mobility management solutions, combined with leading McAfee
anti-virus, anti-spyware, host intrusion prevention, policy
auditing, and firewall technologies, will enable McAfee to address
the mobile workforce by mitigating the risks associated with
vulnerable or malicious mobile applications downloaded by
employees. Through this acquisition, we believe McAfee can expand
its reach into new markets, secure new platforms, and strengthen
its leadership position."
McAfee's acquisition of Trust Digital brings together the
leading product development experts in enterprise mobility
management, provides a larger global footprint of sales and
services professionals to address customer needs, and ensures a
more consistent level of support across multiple product areas from
a single vendor. With this integrated approach to mobile security,
enterprises can manage and support security policies while
cost-effectively delivering new mobile functionality and
devices.
"The integration of Trust Digital with McAfee will enable
enterprises to rapidly deploy new mobility devices such as
smartphones across diverse mobile environments cost effectively and
with the highest level of security. Together, we enable IT to say
yes to the iPhone and Android," said Mark Shull, CEO of Trust
Digital.
